Peregrinity

Muslimah, my ancestry lies in the nation of poets (Somalia), born and raised in Canada. Grasping the concept of artistry, professional dreamer, full-time student. Aspiring film maker/educator, book worm, frequent kitchen experimenter, and an avid tea drinker..let's talk over a tea party :)

O man! what is it that lures you away from your bountiful sustainer, who created you, fashioned you and proportioned you, in whatever form He pleased?

Believers, fear God as is His due, and when death comes, be in a state of complete submission to Him. Hold fast the cord of God and let nothing divide you. Remember the blessings He has bestowed upon you

When your non Muslim friends ask you positive questions about Islam

isthereporkinthis:

Been getting asked about Islam a lot lately, masha’Allah. May Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) guide us all to siraat al-mustaqeen (the straight path) :)

tedxMogadishu :)

Ilwad Ellman talking about the memory of her father, and her quest to do humanitarian work in Mogadishu.

This gives me hope as a Human Rights student, and also as a Somali. May Allah (swt) bless this sister and her family for their honest work.  May Allah (swt) grant us the strength to fulfill our life’s purpose with great stride. Ameen.

By night, Love, tie your heart into mine,
and the two together in their sleep will defeat the darkness
like a double drum in the forest, pounding
against the thick wall of wet leaves

Poem LXXVI - Pablo Neruda’s ”100 Love Sonnets”

With the patience of a bear, Diego Rivera
hunted through paint for the forest’s emerald,
or vermillion, the blood’s sudden flower;
in your picture he gathered the light of the world.

He painted the imperious clothing of your nose,
the sparks of your cantering eyes,
your nails that fuel the moon’s envy,
and, in your summery skin, the melon of your mouth.

He gave you two heads of molten volcanoes,
for fire, for love, for your Arucan lineage,
and over the two golden faces of clay

he covered you with a helmet of noble fire:
there my eyes lingered, in secret,
tangled in your full and towering hair.

“Every Muslim is sacred to his fellow Muslim—his life, his possessions and his honor.” — Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

zuleikha:

Every Muslim should ask themselves: “Are other people safe from my tongue and hands?” “Are they safe from any harm initiated by me?”

If they are not, then be assured that the teachings of your own religion hasn’t penetrated your hearts, despite your outward appearances of faith that may accompany you.

A true Muslim is one who “keeps other Muslims safe from his hand and his tongue, and the Believer is one who keeps all people safe from his wickedness.” So where is our faith?

Are you chasing him or your losses.

nycdar:

If a man doesn’t want to be with you, even if he has up until this very point told you that he wanted a future with you, walk away. You don’t want to be with a man who isn’t sure if you’re right for him, you want a man who wants to be with you. End of story.

To be happy for no reason,
To always be busy with something,
And to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires.
